Stanly perfection
Marty· Review provided by stanley1913.com · February 25, 2024
For over a decade, I have been a dedicated user of French-pressed coffee. Throughout the years, I have utilized various presses, some of which are now amalgamations of functional components salvaged from multiple devices. I have experimented with both metal and glass variants. However, as my children have grown older and begun consuming coffee, I found myself restricted to using two presses to obtain a second cup. The Stanley press, with its exceptional capacity of 48 ounces, surpasses any other press I have encountered in terms of size. Additionally, its thermal properties ensure that the coffee remains hot for an extended period. In comparison to previous presses we have owned, the Stanley press exhibits superior construction and material quality.
Well-built, makes great coffee

I just received this and have made three pots of coffee so far, all at home.

The pros:
- Well-built, all metal parts (except the handle, which is very sturdy plastic)
- The entire plunger assembly comes apart for easy cleaning
- Makes great coffee, though probably similar to any other French press
- Large capacity for multiple cups for friends and family
- I didn't notice any coffee grounds in my cups at all like other commenters have said. I used a coarser French press grind as recommended by my coffee grinder manufacturer, and pressed the plunger all the way down and didn't not experience this problem.

The cons:
- The "4 hours hot" manufacturer claim is over-blown. I made a pot with 36 ounces of water and immediately poured two 12 ounce cups. When I pour the third cup a little over two hours later, the coffee was luke warm. To be fair, any vacuum bottle I've seen that keeps liquids hot for a long time when full quickly cools off the more you pour, since you are also pouring off a large amount of heat. I would look at this as a way to make coffee and keep the full pot hot until you're ready to serve it to your group.
- Though the total fill capacity is 48 ounces, you'll likely only get 36-40 ounces of coffee, depending on how much grounds you like to use, as those take up a significant amount of the internal volume.

So overall, I really like the product. The two cons probably reflect the limit of physics for this type of container, so I don't ding it any stars.
The Best French Press and Great Customer Service
Frank· Review provided by stanley1913.com · April 13, 2023
We purchased our Stanley French press in April, 2020, and have used it daily since then. Well, except when on vacation, and more than a few times we took it along. It is, by far, the best French press coffeemaker we have ever owned. It is built to last, and has performed flawlessly every morning. More importantly, one pot full actually makes enough coffee for our morning caffeine fix without have to make more, which was always the case with the Brand X glass presses. Oh, and the stainless steel just never breaks like the glass ones. Recently we felt it was time to replace the mesh screen, so we contacted Stanley and and asked how we could purchase a new one. We were not expecting it, but the good folks at Stanley sent us, at no charge, not only the screen, but the whole plunger apparatus as part of their “Built for Life” warranty. They responded quickly and were very kind, professional, and accommodating in their communication. We had our new parts in a matter of days. Customers for life? You betcha. New to French press coffee making? We found that buying whole beans (we like old school 8 O’Clock original whole beans), grinding them once a week, using seven level scoops, and steeping for four minutes, provides a consistent, excellent brew. Well, to our taste, anyway. Bottom line: buy this coffee maker. You will never regret this purchase.
Great press but needs twin filters and nylon bushings.

Robust construction, no glass to break! But mine was leaking grounds past the screen; the screen material is not particularly stiff, and when I contacted Stanley about the problem of the filter not holding its shape, they could not send me a second filter. Maybe they don't actually make thing, but have it made to order, because they can't send parts. So they sent a whole new unit free of charge! Wow, really nice of them! So I cannibalized it for the second filter, and now the thing works great with two filters. You have to separate them from time to time and clean them. They really should include a second filter with this press. Also, there is the sound of metal on metal as the rod makes its way through the two sheets of metal of the lid. The lif is not insulated- it's just a fairly stagnat pocket of air in the lid. I drilled out the lid and drove in two nylon bushings into it, and now the unit plunges smoothy and quietly. Again, it should have been made that way. But I love this press!
