I’ve always been someone who chose convenience over health which had led to all kinds of health issues including weight gain. The thought of prepping food and standing for ages to cook it has meant that I’ve made a lot of poor food choices in the past. I’ve been looking at multi cookers for ages and did a lot of research as some of them have toxic non stick inner pots. I chose this one for a number of reasons: 1. The non toxic stainless steel inner pot (deciding factor); 2. It was on sale; and 3. I was able to use my points to get some money off. I’ve used it almost every day since I’ve bought it and I only wish I’d bought it sooner. I am so happy with it. It’s really easy to use and although there’s a still a little prep with chopping food, you just throw it all in and within a few minutes you have a meal. It’s so much better than I thought it would be. I also end up having 2-3 days worth of leftovers which is another reason for buying as I wanted to start batch cooking. There’s an instant pot app you can download with loads of recipes and the food I’ve been cooking as a result has been really tasty. There are loads of vegan and veggie recipes on the app so I’m happy. I’ve not tried yogurt making yet… still a bit confused about how to do this as the advice online in forums and on the app don’t match the instructions but other people manage to make yogurt so I’m sure I’ll get there. Basically, it’s a brilliant product and I wouldn’t be without it now. I love it.

I've had the Instant Pot 6-quart (original Instant Pot), and it has been fantastic for my healthy meal-prepping rice, veggies, and various soups. I love it! I recently purchased the Instant Pot 8-quart because I now make homemade food for my dog that requires "slow cooking." I run both instant pots simultaneously for 6.5 hours on slow cook mode. I get excellent meals for 7-days with recipes that include ground turkey, veggies, etc. My dog goes nuts over his meals every single time. He loves it. The difference I notice between the two Instant Pots is that on the new IP 8-quart, I do start it on sautee mode for about 2-3 minutes first and add a little bit of coconut oil and veggies to begin getting it warm - immediately after I press cancel and start it up again on slow cook mode and it works great each time. On the original IP-6, the slow cook mode warms up instantly.

I did not get the newest IPs with the Wi-Fi-smart modes because, based on the reviews, I do believe those all have a "pre-heat function" that requires the unit to run for several hours before it reaches the temperature necessary for the slow cook process to begin. That adds more hours to cooking, which I did not want.

But I researched thoroughly and bought it. So far, I really like it. I read the instructions carefully. It is not as difficult as I imagined before. I want to shout to my friends why I did not know about it sooner. Now it is a great assistant for me to cook stews and soups for my children whenever I need it. In addition, it can also make yogurt, cook porridge, stew, steam. Good performance, good price, safe with self-release valve.
